IEC 61850- GOOSE, MMS and sampled values

Helping to reduce the cost of testing and commissioning.

Modern substation designs are moving further toward using communications based protection schemes as these reduce installation costs, lower the overall number of devices required and cut commissioning costs.

Reducing costs for testing and commissioning are attractive to asset owners however IEC 61850 based schemes require commissioning engineers to have greater overall knowledge of both power systems and communications systems.

Noble Power Solutions engineers and technical officers are highly experienced in both power systems and communications systems, making us a logical choice for your IEC61850 based substation commissioning.

Having completed several new substations with extensive IEC 61850 based protection schemes in the past three years we are well positioned to deliver your substation testing requirements where IEC 61850 is utilised.

Battery systems and uninterruptible power supplies

Providing immediate control power when it's needed most.

Protection systems rely on having control voltages available when needed to ensure faults are cleared quickly and effectively. Critical to this is the battery systems and uninterruptible power supplies use to provide this control power immediately.

Battery systems especially can be overlooked or forgotten about until such time as they fail to operated as expected, usually leading to larger and more catastrophic damages to high voltage assets and increasing the risk to persons in the vicinity.

Our engineers and commissioning technicians can perform simple, yet very effective testing of your batteries and UPS systems ensuring they are in optimal condition and ready to operate when required. Using modern testing equipment and industry leading procedures batteries can remain in service during testing avoiding the inconvenience of outages and shutdowns.

Routine Testing

Many High voltage asset owner are required to undertake periodic testing of the protection relays on their sites as part of their connection agreements. Our engineers and technical officers understand these requirements well and the importance of testing not just the protection relay, but the protection scheme to ensure equipment continues to work as required

Fault Record Analysis

Modern relays are equipped with fault recorders which provide essential information about how a fault occurred and how the protection relays responded. Our engineers can extract these records and analyse to support primary equipment testing supporting return to service decision making processes.
