Project Overview
At Noble Power Solutions, we specialise in delivering high-quality energy solutions.
Recently, we successfully commissioned two key substations at the Rye Park Wind Farm, which stretches over 40 km in New South Wales. This project features 66 of the largest wind turbines in Australia, each standing 180 metres tall. The total generation capacity of the wind farm is 396 MW, with each substation having a generation capacity of 72 MW and 324 MW, respectively.
Our involvement included:
- Pre-Commissioning:
- Protection Relay testing including overall logic, communication (IEC61850) and protection element testing for all Transmission Lines, Transformers, Bus Zones, Feeders, Incomers, and Reactive Plant.
- 330 kV AIS and 33 kV AIS & GIS Switchgear Functional Testing, including circuit breaker timing tests and interlocking matrix verification.
- Standalone, primary injection, and polarity testing of all Current and Voltage Transformers, plus 3-phase primary injection stability testing of step-up transformers and restricted earth fault elements.
- Reactive Plant testing via frequency response analysis and RLC circuit measurements.
- DC circuit commissioning including battery discharge testing.
- Overall SCADA and control system site integration and testing. Including integration with turbines power plant control system.
- Hot Commissioning:
- Final energisation and verification of systems to ensure proper operation.
- Performance testing of substations under load conditions.
- Calibration and adjustment of equipment as required.
- Final system checks and troubleshooting to address any issues.
- Handover and documentation of all commissioning results and system performance.
