Generator system hold point testing
Critical process in connecting systems to networks.
Hold Point Testing is a critical part of process in connecting any generation system to the network. During this process the generating system—wind, solar, hydro, battery storage, biofuel alike—must undergo a series of performance tests to ensure it meets the requirements to connect to the grid without causing adverse effect or responding in an unexpected manner for network events.
The process of Hold Point Testing requires a number of factors to be coordinated and engineers liaise continuously with network control centers throughout the process to ensure the stability of the network during testing and that no hazardous conditions which could damage the equipment arise.
Noble Power Solutions has a proven track record of successfully undertaking Hold Point Testing for renewable energy projects working with clients for R2 model validation and demonstrating compliance with Generator Performance Standards.
Harmonic and power quality analysis
Power Quality Analysis for proposed new connections.
The increase in wind and solar generation systems is taking the place of traditional rotating machine generation systems, however these new electronic inverter generators can have undesired effects on the electrical network.
Network Service Providers and National Electricity Rules have tight regulations regarding the levels of harmonic emissions these generators are permitted and minimum power quality standards which must be adhered to.
Noble Power Solutions can undertake Power Quality Analysis for proposed new connections (background measurements) as well as measurements where clients are concerned about potential issues or non-conformances.
Utilising high sampling rate power quality recorders from manufacturers including ELSPEC and Hioki our engineers can record and assess any power quality issues, providing a full report with recommendations of remedial actions.
