Territory Generator Channel Island Power Station

The 132kV cables installed at the Channel Island Power Station have been in service for approximately 30years and Noble Power Solutions was engaged to perform partial discharge and dielectric loss angle testing of the Unit 6 and Station Services Transformer cables. The aim of the testing was to determine how the cables have degraded over time and estimate a mean time to failure. While it was possible to determine the cables appear to have water treeing occurring a mean time to failure was not possible as there is no previous testing data available to establish a trend.
